There are a number of events being planned throughout 2010 to celebrate this successful partnership – details of which will follow in the New Year.

One of our plans is to gather unforgettable memories of the two churches as a record of the past 50 years and we are looking for everyone in both congregations to contribute to this project. The memories do not have to be to do with the linkage, just interesting stories from the past 50 years.

If you have any memories you would like to share, please pass them on to the minister or leave them at the front door of the church for the anniversary committee to uplift, alternatively use the contact form on the website. Just to help focus the mind we propose the following headings: Sunday School, Christmas, Easter, The Minister, Harvest, The Building, Special Events and ‘Funnies’. Hopefully this will help trigger a story or two!

On SOUPER SUNDAY, after the Morning Service, in the hall we can enjoy bread and home-made soup as well as sharing time with each other. This time together will also allow us to help towards the funding of more HIV related work in Sub-Sarahan Africa, the Middle East and in Scotland by a donation towards this cause.

If you can volunteer by making some soup, please speak to Lesley Toms. A short meeting will be held after the service on 6th December.

1 November: we will be learning more from the Bible and painting what we learn.
8 November: this is Remembrance Sunday and we will be thinking of others.
15 November - 13 December: we will be practising for the Nativity. During this period, we do need the children to attend every week so that we can make the Nativity an enjoyable success for all.
6 December: the Gift Service takes place today. As in previous years we plan to give the donated toys to the Childrens' Resource Centre in Pollok, Glasgow. This may well be the only present a child receives at Christmas so please ensure that the toy, book, etc is in good condition. In order to assist in the distribution of the toys, it would be extremely helpful if the wrapping was labelled with an age range and whether the gift is for a girl or a boy.
Saturday 12 December: this is the Christmas Party for pre-school up to and including the P3 children.
!3 December: this is Communion Sunday and the Sunday School will meet in the hall. The date is also the one for the P4 and above cinema trip.
20 December: the Nativity takes place.

A copy of the Sunday School schedule is on display in the hall.

CAMELS: The camels will walk through the town on 21 December and the children will be involved in the nativity play that will take place at the 7pm service in Avendale Church followed by the bazaar.

CHRISTMAS EVENT - BUBBLEGUM AND FLUFF: Plans are developing to bring the children's Christmas activity, designed by Hamilton Presbytery, called Bubblegum and Fluff to the P6 classes. It will take place in the first week of December and volunteers from each Church are required to help with fun activities, singing, story telling, all with the idea of presenting the 'real' Christmas story and debunking the myths. Contact Maxine if you can help.

EASTER 2010: Following the success of last year's Easter Pilgrimage, we would like your views on what should be arranged for 2010. It is felt that simply repeating the Pigrimage this year may have less impact. Other ideas include a Passion Play with or without professional help. What do you think? If you have any ideas about how the Churches can work together, please let Maxine know.

Dear Friend,

Chapelton Parish Church is regarded by many people in the village and the surrounding area as 'their' Church whether they are Church members or not.
Sunday 4th October 2009 is Harvest Thanksgiving and we would like to welcome you all home to your Church to celebrate with us at the morning service.

During the Harvest service donations of rice, sugar and flour are gifted to be sent to families overseas and any donations will be gratefully accepted at the Church door.
After the service, a 'homecoming' brunch will be served in the Church hall to which everyone is very warmly invited.

Please celebrate the 'Year of Homecoming' and join us in the Church at 9.30am on Sunday 4th October.

In addition to all the exhibits on display, the Church of Scotland DVD "Together we make a difference" was shown.

Rankin Church Hall was a very busy place on the Saturday with the setting up of the exhibition and it was gratifying to see the large numbers that toured the stands after the Morning Service on the Sunday and during that afternoon. Thanks are due to all who helped to make the event such a success, not forgetting those who helped to supply tea, coffee, juice and biscuits in the small hall.

The money we collect goes towards helping Dr Morrison at the Womens Christian Hospital in Multan, Pakistan.
Recently the money sent was used to help with building work at a school in a very needy part of the city.
