Union of Churches - some further information

As already intimated the first service of the united churches will take place in Strathaven (Lethame Road buildings) on Sunday 27 May at 11.00am. This is a joint service where folks from Chapelton, Glassford and Strathaven will be worshipping together.

On Thursday 31 May, the Presbytery of Hamilton will be hosting a service in the East Church at 7.00pm. This will be to formalise the union, to introduce the Rev Shaw J Paterson as minister to the joining congregations and to formally close the East Church building for worship. Please add this date to your diary and come along. It will also be the last opportunity to worship in the East Church and I am sure a large turnout will be appreciated by our friends and fellow members who are losing their building.

Sunday 3 June will also be a united service in Strathaven at 11.00am and will be followed by a buffet lunch in the hall. Please let us know via the contact form if you are able to assist with the lunch.

Remember, we will be moving to a new hymn book at the point of union. It is commonly know as ‘CH4’ but we will also be using ‘Hymns of Glory, Songs of Praise’ which has the same content and hymn numbers as CH4. Mission Praise will be retained for occasional use.
